Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July weekend. We have no big plans this weekend, other than our annual family golf tournament. Every year my husband and I take our son, Jake, golfing at a small par 3 course. Each year we get a special 3 pack of golf balls for our tournament. The goal is to keep your ball for the entire 18 holes. I usually lose my ball somewhere on the front 9. Last year Jake was the only one who managed to not lose his ball for the entire 18 holes. Now that he is in golf camp this summer, I expect to thoroughly lose to him. I used to beat him by a few strokes, but I think those days are long gone. I am so proud of what a good little golfer he is. Can't wait to see how the tournament goes this year.

One of My Favorite Layouts

This is a LO I created from my monthly scrapbook kit subscriptions from Scrapbook Chicks. The photo is a picture of me and my BF (and old roomate) sitting on the steps outside our old apratment in Montreal. Sadly this picture was not taken while we were still residents of the old apartment. We took a trip back to Montreal 3 years after we graduated and wandered around our old stomping grounds. We couldn't pass up an opportunity to take a picture in front of our apartment that saw our laughter during the best of times and saw our tears during the worst of times. For the title of my page I used a song title: The Old Apartment, by  Barenaked Ladies. While the song was perfect just for the photo, it was even more perfect since we are huge BNL fans. This LO is one of my favorites, not just because I like the way it came out, but more for the stories and memories we shared in The Old Apartment.

Paper Bag Mini Album Tutorial

I am working on a paper bag album for a swap that I am participating in. All participants filled out a survey about their likes/dislikes and their desired theme for the album. The album I am creating is a "friendship" themed album.. I've never done a paper bag album before, so I turned to YouTube looking for some tutorials. I can't believe how many are out there. My favorite tutorial is below. It is from Follow the Paper Trail. I just got my paper bags assembled and my patterned paper cut. Now comes the fun part, putting the album together. I will post some pics once I get a little bit further. Wish me luck!

Going to Summer Camp

Well, not summer camp in the traditional sense, it is Creating Keepsakes Summer Camp 2010. I'm registered to attend CK Summer Camp 2010- an online camp for scrapbookers- from July 12-16. And the best part is is that it is a FREE online Summer Camp. This will be my first year "attending" and I am super excited. There will be daily classes taught by camp counselors, merit badge training for scrappers, contests and prizes, crop games, and lots more. If you are a fan of scrapbooking I recommend checking it out. CK does a great job with everything they do. From their magazines and books to their scrapbooking conventions, these peeps at CK know how to make scrapbooking fun. They provide great inspiration and tips and techniques for you to try. So I say grab your bug spray and sun tan lotion and head on over to check out their summer camp. Hope to see you there. Happy Camping! You can sign up for CK Summer Camp here.

Love Club Creating Keepsakes

Before I share my recent sewing projects I wanted to talk about scrapbooking. Creating Keepsakes magazine has started a community for scrapbookers called Club Creating Keepsakes. I joined as a premium member since you get a magazine subscription and a ton of freebies. While I love my Tips & Tricks magazine and the other freebies I got with my membership, my favorite part of this community is the Message Board. There are so many wonderful peeps out there and the MB is full of wonderful ideas and tips for scrapbooking. I am currently participating in two swaps, a journal spot swap and a recipe card swap, and it has been so much fun. I can't wait to receive my fun scrappy mail and see what everyone else has done.

If you are a fan of Creating Keepsakes and you haven't checked it out yet, I recommed that you do. Here's the link. http://clubcreatingkeepsakes.com/

Let me know if you love Club CK as much as I do.

Welcome to my blog

My name is Jessica and I have started this blog as a place to record my love for crafting. I am an avid scrapbooker, and have recently ventured into the world of sewing and quilting. This is where I will post pictures of my creations, thoughts on the process of creating, and tips and tricks to make crafting more fun. Since I am new to world of blogging, I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on things you would like to see on my blog. I will share some scrapbook projects I am working on, as well as sewing projects from a great book I just purchased, One Yard Wonders. I will eventually share some pictures of my craft space (which is still a work in progress). Any thoughts or tips or suggestions that you have are very welcome. Thanks for visiting.
